Documents Available from the 12th Meeting

The objective of the meeting was to have representatives from academia and industry discuss their views on how preferences should be represented in engineering design. That is, how should a design utility function be represented?

Discussion was centered around the following questions:

  • How should the preferences of end users, product designers and company managers be captured in engineering design?

  • How should the method address uncertainty and risk attitude?

  • What should be the role of multi-criteria decision making approach vs. single-criterion approach?

  • What do you see as the top research issues for this topic in particular and for Decision-Based Design in general?
