The 16th Face-to-Face Open Workshop took place at the 2003 ASME IDETC in Chicago, Illinois. The panelists provided some unique and interesting perspectives on the state of DBD and as always, the open question session was full of great questions and interesting responses.

The panelists for the workshop were professors Zissimos Mourelatos and Deborah Thurston. Dr. Mourelatos brought the insight of his seventeen years of experience with GM to give a more industrial perspective on the role of DBD. Dr. Thurston raised awareness on the international view of DBD and provided some suggestions for focusing future research.
